Oh Baby. Christopher Kane Spring 2010.

So I've been lagging with all this Fashion Week coverage however it's hard to see anything else when I've been up to my eyeballs in work and school. But now that I have my first exams of the semester behind me, I can start to look forward to what's in store for Spring 2010. Seeing as I've been out of the game for quite some time now I've got a lot of cramming and catching up to do, but i would be behind for long.

First I want to talk about Christopher Kane's collection in London Fashion Week just this past Monday. And baby oh baby has everyone just been eating it up. With cotton candy baby pink and baby blue overload in full effect, it seems the fashion world's - or at least the internet fashion world's - sweet tooth is getting more than its fill.

Kane flooded the runway with plaid, but there is just enough embroidered lace to keep everyone afloat.

With so much pastel pink and blue, it was nice to see a little black, especially with the lace.

There were also some interesting neutrals

And a last dash of colors and the nude really brought the whole collection together.

Overall I don't think much of plaid but I do respect what Kane has done in terms of cuts. By maximizing design and minimizing pattern and fabric as a focus in this collection, the collection as a whole is almost architectural. It graphs the female figure to a T. A little more variety wouldn't hurt but I think overall it is a respectable collection that I wouldn't be surprised to see echoed in the future.

<3 stay classy
